Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
